She was <strong>the</strong> special representative of <strong>the</strong> FinnishPrime Minister in <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> Convention. She was editor-in-chief of Politiikkain 1995–96 <strong>and</strong> has been a columnist in several Finnish newspapers. Shehas published more than 80 scientific articles <strong>and</strong> several monographs, includingEurope <strong>and</strong> Finl<strong>and</strong>: Defining <strong>the</strong> National Identity of Finl<strong>and</strong> in WesternEurope (Ashgate, 1998); <strong>and</strong> Finl<strong>and</strong> in <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> Union (Frank Cass,2003, with Tapio Raunio).Elzbieta Tromer (Denmark) is currently reading for a PhD on obtaining securitypolitical means through <strong>the</strong> investment of political instruments. In 2003–2005 she was head of <strong>the</strong> Baltic Institute for <strong>Security</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Defence</strong> Studies <strong>and</strong>dean of <strong>the</strong> Baltic <strong>Defence</strong> College. Previously, she worked for major telecomcompanies in Denmark <strong>and</strong> Pol<strong>and</strong> having worked for <strong>the</strong> Danish InvestmentFund for Central <strong>and</strong> Eastern Europe <strong>and</strong> as a consultant to <strong>the</strong> Polish Ministryof Privatization. She was a member of <strong>the</strong> Danish Government’s Commissionon <strong>Security</strong> <strong>and</strong> Disarmament from 1990 to its closure. She has published books<strong>and</strong> articles on security political issues <strong>and</strong> on economic reforms in Central <strong>and</strong>Eastern Europe, as well as on issues related to management practices.
