One can marry only whom thepriest pleases ; <strong>and</strong> can send one''s children to no school whichthe Pope has disallowed ; he must be told how often tocome to confession, <strong>and</strong> what proportion of his goods to giveto the Church ; above all, his conscience must be directediu the important matter of his last will <strong>and</strong> testament.cannot bury his dead unless he is on good terms with theChurch. Whether as a holder of the franchise, a municipalcouncillor, a judge, or a member of parliament, he must givean account of his stewardship to Rome. From his cradleto his grave he is under priestly direction.
