Intravitreal Bevacizumab in Macular Edema <strong>of</strong> Central Retinal<br />

Purpose: To study the effect <strong>of</strong> Intravitreal Bevacizumab in macular edema <strong>of</strong><br />

central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).<br />

Method: In this consecutive interventional case series <strong>of</strong> 25 patients with<br />

macular edema secondary to CRVO were treated with intravitreal bevacizumab<br />

(1.25 mg/0.05ml). Patients were followed up the next day after the injection,<br />

then at 4 weeks and subsequently at 3 month intervals. Repeated injections<br />

were given if OCT showed persistent macular edema. Results were analyzed<br />

using statistical tests.<br />

Results: Mean follow up period was 6 months (range 3-18 months). BCVA<br />

improved in 20 (80%) and remained stable in 5 (20%) eyes. No cases <strong>of</strong><br />

visual deterioration. The mean foveal thickness was >600 µm at baseline that<br />
