Automated Static Perimetry Defects
Kashii Satoshi (1)
1. Aichi Shukutoku University
There are some important rules you should not miss in reading an automated
perimetry printout. A focal defect is defined as a cluster of 2 or more adjacent
points of p 10mm), and QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT) Test was positive. There were no
other systemic foci of tuberculosis. She was successfully treated with 3 agents
of antibiotics. Isolated orbital tuberculosis especially in the lacrimal gland is
rare. QFT test was helpful to make diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection in
people who were BCG vaccinated.
WOC2012 Abstract Book
Case 1 is a 32 year-old man with retinal tumor inferotemporal to the optic disc.
Case 2 is a 10 year-old girl with retinal tumor superonasal to the optic disc. Both
of these cases reveal oval and white colored mass with approximately 2.5 optic
disc diameter in size, no retinal exudation, no calcification, no enlargement over
2 years and unique capillary network on fluorescein angiography. Differential
diagnosis may include retinocytoma, retinal astrocytoma, retinal astrocytic
hamartoma and others.
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT): Is it an Effective Treatment Modality
for Retinal and Choroidal Vascular Tumors?
Naseripour Masood (1)
1. Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Several case reports have indicated that Verteporfin PDT may induce occlusion
of both retinal and choroidal hemangiomas as well as vasoproliferative tumors.
The treatment benefits may be limited by several factors such as pre-existing
retinal changes and morphologic characteristics of lesion as well as a variety
of post-PDT complications. Long-term results of single-centre consecutive
interventional case series in 43 eyes with RCH, VPT and choroidal hemangioma
will be presented in this lecture.
Intra-Lacrimal Artery Cisplatin for Advanced Lacrimal Gland
Adenocarcinoma: Does it Really Work??
Othman Ihab Saad (1)
1. Cairo University
Lacrimal gland adenocarcinoma (LGA) is notorious for perineural infiltration
and local recurrence. Intra-arterial cisplatinum (IAC) has been suggested
as a method for localized tumor control. We present an advanced case
of infiltrating LGA who did not respond to 2 injections of IAC and only was
successfully managed by extensive combined approach (Ophthalmology, ENT,
Neurosurgery, and Radiotherapy).
Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma of the Retina
Pelayes David (1)
1. Buenos Aires University
The pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas (PX) of the retina is an infrequent tumor
in the retina. Many large pleomorphic cells contained vesicular and enlarged
nuclei with a homogeneous eosinophilic cytoplasm, prominent nucleoli, and
calcium deposits were found. Some cells had a markedly swollen lipidized. The
large pleomorphic and swollen cells have in part, a divergent differentiation with
glial and macrophagic marker cells. The findings suggest PX have an astroglial
and histiocytic lineage and are similar to pleomorphic xanthoastrocytomas of
the CNS brain and spinal cord.
