OS MERCADOS DE BELÉM: UM ESTUDO SOBRE A PRESERVAÇÃO DA
ARQUITETURA DO FERRO

RESUMO:
A pesquisa trata da preservação da arquitetura do ferro através do estudo de dois
mercados de Belém (Pará) extremamente representativos: o Mercado de Ferro e o
Mercado Bolonha, edificações construídas entre final do século XIX e início do século
XX. Para evidenciar a relevância desses objetos de estudo, serão estudadas as
manifestações da arquitetura do ferro, desde fins do século XVIII até o início do
século XX – examinando tanto as construções em ferro propriamente dito quanto as
que contam com elementos metálicos cuja presença repercute de maneira relevante
nas conformações de seus exemplares – com o intuito de mostrar o interesse e a
importância desse tipo de construção em Belém e a significância, no contexto de
grandes transformações por que passou a cidade no chamado "ciclo da borracha",
dos objetos de estudo. Os mercados serão então analisados em suas características
arquitetônicas, tipológicas e técnico-construtivas, examinando também as
transformações e intervenções pelas quais passaram ao longo do tempo. Especial
interesse será dado ao estudo de seu atual estado de conservação e da relação
entre edifícios e usuários. O intuito é, através desses estudos, analisar os aspectos
materiais e técnico-construtivos, contemporizando-os com os aspectos estéticos,
históricos e simbólicos das edificações, circunscrevendo a discussão com auxílio das
contribuições conceituais oferecidas pelas atuais vertentes teóricas da restauração,
para estabelecer parâmetros a serem observados no que tange à sua preservação.
ABSTRACT:
The research is about the preservation of the iron architecture through the study of
two markets of Belém (Pará) extremely representative: the Market of Iron and the
Bolonha Market, constructions built among the end of the century XIX and beginning
of the century XX. To evidence the relevance of those study objects, they will be
studied the manifestations of the architecture of the iron, since ends of the century
XVIII to the beginning of the century XX - examining the constructions so much
properly in iron said as the ones that count with metallic elements whose presence
rebounds in an important way in the conformation of its exemplaries - with the
intention of showing the interest and the importance of that construction type in Belém
and the meaning, in the context of great transformations who passed the city in the
called "rubber cycle", of the study objects. The markets will be analyzed in its
architectural characteristics, typology and technician-constructive, also examining the
transformations and interventions for the which they passed along the time. Special
interest will be given to the study of its current conservation state and of the
relationship between buildings and users. The aim is, through of those studies, to
