Resumen
Se estudia un casco griego de material base cobre. Fue hallado sin contexto
arqueológico en Andalucía (España), y se encuentra en los fondos de la Real
Academia de la Historia. Para el estudio se han utilizado tres procedimientos
analíticos: radiografía, metalografía y análisis químico. Los resultados han permitido
determinar el proceso de fabricación y diversos aspectos relativos al estado de
conservación. Asimismo, se ha observado que algunas partes de dicha pieza
arqueológica no corresponden al original. En un momento indeterminado,
relativamente cercano, la pérdida de los protectores de nariz y de nuca se suplió por
piezas para intentar ofrecer una imagen completa del casco. Se ha determinado el
tipo de material utilizado en la reparación y el procedimiento de unión de las partes
falsas con el material original.
Abstract:
Study of a Greek army headgear of copper base material. It was found in Andalucía
(Spain), without an archaeological context, and actually it is located in the History
Real Academy funds. Three analytical procedures have been applied to the
investigation: radiography, metallography and chemical analysis. The results have
permitted to determine the manufacturing process and the different aspects relative to
the preserving status. Likewise, it has been observed that some parts of the
archaeological piece do not correspond to the original one. In an indeterminate
moment, relatively near, the loss of nose and nape of the neck protectors, was
replaced by pieces in order to show a complete image of the army headgear. The
type of the material used in the repair and joining process of the false parts to the
original material was determined.
