LIMPIEZA LÁSER DE UNA ISIS EGIPCIA EN
BRONCE CON LÁMINA DE ORO

Resumen:
Se ha recuperado una escultura egipcia que representa a la diosa Isis lactante con
Horus, fabricada en bronce a la cera perdida y cubierta con una lámina de oro. Los
procesos de alteración originaron una gruesa capa de productos de corrosión sobre
la lámina del oro. La eliminación de esta costra sin dañar el oro resulta arriesgado.
Se ha utilizado radiación láser pulsada, producida por una fuente de Nd:YAG, debido
a la alta intensidad y al corto intervalo de la interacción sobre los recubrimientos no
metálicos, gruesas costras de sales corrosivas y adherencias, que se vaporizan sin
afectar a la lámina de oro ni a la superficie metálica del substrato. La limpieza es uno
de los campos de aplicación más interesante del láser, esta técnica optimiza este
procedimiento y al mismo tiempo reduce al mínimo los efectos residuales, colaterales
e invasivos de otros métodos, como ocurre con las limpiezas químicas o mecánicas.
El grado de control y efectividad de esta técnica, se refleja en la precisión y
selectividad estratigráfica, que limita al mínimo la posibilidad de errores manuales.
Este método resulta el más idóneo por sus óptimos resultados.
Abstract:
It has been recovered an Egyptian sculpture that represents the goddess Isis nursling
with Horus, manufactured in brass to the lost wax and covered with a sheet of gold. a
thick layer of products of corrosion on the sheet of the gold was originated by the
alteration processes. The elimination of this scab without damaging the gold is
chancy. Pulsed radiation Nd:YAG laser has been used, due to the high intensity and
to the short interval of the interaction on thelaps not metallic, thick scabs of corrosive
salts and adherences that vaporize without affecting to the sheet of gold neither the
metallic surface of the substratum. The cleaning is one of the most interesting fields
of the laser application. This technique optimizes this procedure and, at the same
time, reduces the residual, collateral effects and attack of other methods, like it
happens with the chemical or mechanical cleanings. The control grade and
effectiveness of this technique, are reflected in the precision and stratigraphic
selectivity that it limits to the minimum the possibility of manual errors. This method is
the most suitable for its good results.
