54 Un’altra via per attivare direttamente i fluidi cocleari può essere attraverso una cocleostomia con la preservazione dell’en<strong>do</strong>-ostio cocleare, ma questa applicazione non è stata esegu<strong>it</strong>a in un numero sufficiente di casi per poterne valutare l’efficacia. La classificazione sotto riportata, rappresenta un’utile orientamento fra le varie possibil<strong>it</strong>à offerte da VBS. Conclusione I risultati ottenuti con VBS fanno r<strong>it</strong>enere che il sistema presenta ampie possibil<strong>it</strong>à di sviluppo nel futuro. Uno sviluppo delle applicazioni classiche con effettore sulla catena ossiculare potrebbe essere rappresentato da un sistema totalmente impiantabile, con microfono intratimpanico ed alimentazione alloggiata sottocute. L’altro campo, forse più promettente riguarda le applicazioni per trasferire le vibrazioni meccaniche diversamente amplificate, direttamente ai fluidi cocleari, con il posizionamento dell’effettore sulle finestre cocleari. Queste soluzioni potrebbero forse avvantaggiarsi ulteriormente da un ridisegnamento dell’effettore, appos<strong>it</strong>amente studiato per garantire un accoppiamento ottimale fra FMT e finestre cocleari.
