Viewing and Enhancing Images<br />

CHAPTER 7: Image Management-ViewStation & Photos and Diagrams<br />

The Image window provides tools for enhancing and changing the view of images.<br />

CAUTION<br />

Magnifying Images<br />

To apply basic image viewing options, you must have Image |<br />

ViewStation | Basics | Enable security rights.<br />

To view and change images, you must have Image | ViewStation |<br />

Images | View and Modify security rights and Image | ViewStation |<br />

Image Information | View and Modify security rights.<br />

To save and print images, you must have Administrative | General |<br />

Modify security rights.<br />

To copy and remove images, you must have Image | ViewStation and<br />

Maintenance | Copy/Move Images | Enable and Delete Images | Enable<br />

security rights.<br />

1. Open the patient’s chart.<br />

2. Click eChart | Images… to open the Image List window.<br />

3. Double-click the image, or click the image, then click Open to open the image in the<br />

Image window.<br />

4. In the toolbox, click to zoom in on the image.<br />

Notice the zoom tools and zoom factor at the top of the Image window.<br />

You cannot change the zoom factor field.<br />

5. Click twice to zoom out on the image.<br />

100% identifies a 1:1 mapping of image pixels to monitor pixels.<br />

When the zoom ratio is reduced below 100%, a single monitor pixel<br />

shows multiple image pixels that have been combined by<br />

resampling.<br />

6. If you wish to magnify a specific area of the image, click and drag the scroll bar at the<br />

bottom of the image viewer to show the area you wish to magnify, then click and drag<br />

the scroll bar on the side of the image viewer to best position the area you wish to<br />

magnify.<br />

7. In the toolbox, click twice.<br />

8. Click Cancel, then double-click the same image if you wish to reset the image<br />

magnification to the original settings and cannot remember the original zoom factor.<br />
