On a smaller scale, the Project is managing the land adjacent to the reservoirs, owned<br />

by ESW, to promote biodiversity. The meadows and fen are managed through a<br />

DEFRA Countryside Stewardship Scheme. Woodland are<strong>as</strong> are being managed<br />

for wildlife with the help of a volunteer group established this year. This includes<br />

coppicing, creating glades and hedge laying. Local residents make good use of the<br />

public footpaths across the site, and the Project is keen to promote responsible<br />

access and <strong>as</strong>sociated infr<strong>as</strong>tructure.<br />

All of these me<strong>as</strong>ures, and more, feature in the Catchment Management Plan, written<br />

in 2005, which sets out the vision for the Lound Project and how it will be achieved.<br />
