Actions should aim to assist clubs to better understand <strong>the</strong> benefits and risks<br />

associated with pursu<strong>in</strong>g diversification <strong>in</strong>itiatives, and could <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

understand <strong>the</strong> benefits and risks associated with pursu<strong>in</strong>g diversification<br />

clubs be<strong>in</strong>g encouraged to explore, recognise and benefit from <strong>the</strong>ir collective<br />

strengths when th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> diversification.<br />

Actions should aim to encourage clubs to see amalgamation as a strategic move that<br />

can preserve a club’s assets and identity, and could <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

OLGR develop<strong>in</strong>g pro-formas for documents that need to be lodged with a club’s<br />

<strong>in</strong>dustry peak bodies educat<strong>in</strong>g clubs on both <strong>the</strong> benefits and risks <strong>of</strong><br />

amalgamation.<br />

Mak<strong>in</strong>g it easier for clubs to be established<br />

Actions should aim to remove identified barriers to club establishment, and could<br />

<strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

OLGR and <strong>Clubs</strong><strong>NSW</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g a guide to registration for clubs<br />

local government <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g an allowance for land that is suitable for <strong>the</strong><br />

establishment <strong>of</strong> a registered club when plann<strong>in</strong>g new development areas<br />

new clubs cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g to have access to 10 free gam<strong>in</strong>g mach<strong>in</strong>e entitlements until<br />

alternative measures are <strong>in</strong> place to assist establish<strong>in</strong>g clubs.<br />

Remov<strong>in</strong>g unnecessary regulatory restrictions on clubs<br />

Actions should aim to remove identified unnecessary regulatory restrictions on<br />

clubs, and could <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g amendments to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Registered</strong> <strong>Clubs</strong> Act:<br />

clarify<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> circumstances <strong>in</strong> which contract caterers can serve liquor <strong>in</strong> clubs<br />

remov<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> prohibition on clubs provid<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong>f-premises cater<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
