3.4.2 Align<strong>in</strong>g clubs’ contributions with <strong>the</strong> priorities <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> State Plan<br />
The State Plan – a new direction for <strong>NSW</strong> was released <strong>in</strong> November 2006. It focuses on<br />
five areas <strong>of</strong> activity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>NSW</strong> Government:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Rights, Respect and Responsibility – <strong>the</strong> justice system and services that promote<br />
community <strong>in</strong>volvement and citizenship.<br />
Deliver<strong>in</strong>g Better Services – key services to <strong>the</strong> whole population <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g health,<br />
education and transport.<br />
Fairness and Opportunity – services that promote social justice and reduce<br />
disadvantage.<br />
Grow<strong>in</strong>g Prosperity Across <strong>NSW</strong> – activities that promote productivity and<br />
economic growth, particularly <strong>in</strong> rural and regional <strong>NSW</strong>.<br />
Environment for Liv<strong>in</strong>g – plann<strong>in</strong>g for hous<strong>in</strong>g and jobs, environmental<br />
protection, arts and recreation.<br />
The State Plan sets out <strong>the</strong> goals <strong>the</strong> community wants <strong>the</strong> <strong>NSW</strong> Government to<br />
work towards. It identifies priorities for government action that will help achieve<br />
each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se goals over <strong>the</strong> next 10 years.<br />
IPART has exam<strong>in</strong>ed what role registered clubs might play <strong>in</strong> advanc<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>NSW</strong><br />
Government’s priorities as set out <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> State Plan. If found that some club activities<br />
already help to advance <strong>the</strong>se priorities, but that clubs could do more <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> future.<br />
