Brake System<br />

REPLACING BRAKE<br />

SHOE<br />

REMOVAL<br />

1. Jack <strong>up</strong> car, s<strong>up</strong>port it with -a<br />

stand, and remove tire.<br />

2. Remove brake drum. When it is<br />

hard to remove brake drum, the following<br />

instructions apply.<br />

(1) Remove clevis pin (indicated by<br />

arrow mark) from wheel cylinder<br />

lever, and disconnect hand brake<br />

cable. See Figure BR-23.<br />

(2) Remove brake drum adjust hole<br />

plug, and remove adjust lever from<br />

adjust wheel with a screwdriver.<br />

The leading-trailing system rear<br />

brake adopts sliding system cylinder.<br />

When the hand brake is operated, the<br />

wheel cylinder lever turns the adjust<br />

wheel, and thus, clearance between the<br />

brake shoe and brake drum is adjusted<br />

automatically.<br />

(3) Turn adjust wheel downward<br />

with a screwdriver, loosen brake shoe,<br />

and remove brake drum. See Figure<br />

BR-24.<br />

3. Remove anti-rattling spring, and<br />

then remove both brake shoes<br />

together.<br />
