HANDLING CAN TAP<br />

A wide variety of can taps are<br />

available. The following procedures<br />

apply to conventional can taps.<br />

For the correct usage, refer to the<br />

manufacturer's instructions.<br />

Caution: Use can tap of good quality.<br />

Air Conditioning<br />

1. Connect charging hose to the<br />

center fitting of manifold gauge. At<br />

this time, confirm that both stems are<br />

fully turned in (front-seated).<br />

2. Turn can tap handle fully counterclockwise<br />

so that the needle is<br />

pulled <strong>up</strong>.<br />

3. Attach can tap to refrigerant can<br />

firmly.<br />

4. Turn can tap handle fully clockwise<br />

to make a hole in refrigerant<br />

can.<br />

5. Turn the handle fully counterclockwise<br />

to raise the needle. Refrigerant<br />

gas will flow <strong>up</strong> to the center<br />

fitting of manifold gauge.<br />

6. Loosen the connection at the<br />

center fitting of manifold gauge for a<br />

few seconds to purge air inside charging<br />

hose. See Figure AC-20.<br />
