C-4 Application Notes!ATTENTION: User must read the following prior to the use ofTorqProve with no encoder.Encoderless TorqProve must be limited to lifting applicationswhere personal safety is not a concern. Encoders offer additionalprotection and must be used where personal safety is a concern.Encoderless TorqProve cannot hold a load at zero speed withouta mechanical brake and does not offer additional protection if thebrake slips/fails. Loss of control in suspended load applicationscan cause personal injury and/or equipment damage. It is the responsibility of the engineer and/or user to configuredrive parameters, test any lifting functionality and meet safetyrequirements in accordance with all applicable codes andstandards. If encoderless TorqProve is desired, the user mustcertify the safety of the application. To acknowledge that the enduser has read this “Attention” and properly certified theirencoderless application, bit 3 (“EnclsTrqProv”) of [Mtr OptionsCnfg], parameter 40 must be changed to a “1.” This will removeAlarm 28, “TP Encls Config” and allow bit 1 of Parameter 1100to be changed to a “1” enabling encoderless TorqProve.Tuning The Motor For Torque Prove ApplicationsIt is possible to use the Start-Up routine (See page 2-3) to tune the motor. However, it is recommended that the motor be disconnected from the hoist/crane equipment during the routine!ATTENTION: To guard against personal injury and/orequipment damage caused by unexpected brake release, verifythat the digital output used for brake connections and/orprogramming. The PowerFlex 750-Series drive will not controlthe mechanical brake until TorqProve is enabled. If the brakeis connected to a digital output, it could be released. If necessary, disconnect the digital output until wiring/programming canbe completed and verified.PowerFlex 750-Series User Manual – Publication 750-UM001C-EN-P – September 2009
