'Abd Munaf al-QurashI al-HashimI, the cousin of the Prophet<br />

() and the interpreter of the Quean. He was born three years<br />

before the Hijrah and was called the 'Ocean ef knowledge' due to<br />

his vast knowledge. He took part in the Jihad in North Africa in<br />

th year 27H and died in the year 68H.<br />

'ABDULLAH IBN 'AMR: lbn al-'As lbn Wa'il <strong>Ibn</strong> Hashim <strong>Ibn</strong><br />

Su'ayd lbn Sa'd <strong>Ibn</strong> Sahm al-SahmI. He and his father were Companions.<br />

He was literate and attained permission from the<br />

Prophet () to write everything he said. He died in the year<br />

65H.<br />

'ABDULLAH ABO JABIR: <strong>Ibn</strong> 'Amr <strong>Ibn</strong> J::lazzam <strong>Ibn</strong> Thalabah<br />

al-AnarI al-KhazrajI al-SulamI, amongst those who gave the<br />

pledge of 'Uqbah. He witnessed Badr and was martyred at Ubud.<br />

'ABDULLAH IBN MAS'OD: <strong>Ibn</strong> Ghafil <strong>Ibn</strong> J::labib al-HadhlI Abu<br />

'Abdur-Ral:1man. One of the scholars amongst the Companions<br />

and he witnessed Badr and the following battles. He had many<br />

virtues and died in the year 32H.<br />

'ABDULLAH IBN RAWAHAH: 'Abdullah <strong>Ibn</strong> Rawahah lbn<br />

Tha'labah al-AnarI, a poet and warrior from the Khazraj tribe<br />

in Madinah, gave allegiance to the Prophet () along with others<br />

at the valley of 'Aqabah before the Prophet ( migrated to<br />

Madinah. He participated in all the battles beginning with Badr.<br />

In one of the campaigns, the Prophet () appointed him governor<br />

of Madinah in the Prophet's () absence. He was besieged<br />

along with others at Mawtah and killed.<br />

'ABDULLAH IBN SA YY AD: His father was a Jew and it was<br />

thought <strong>by</strong> some that he was the Dajjal. He was born during the<br />

time of the Prophet () and was one-eyed - later it was proven<br />
