VO2tau and changes in anthropometric and physiological variables in order to determine whether phase II VO2tau might be a good<br />

estimator for evaluating health-related fitness.<br />

Methods: Fifteen male subjects (aged 26 to 50 yrs) doing no regular physical training participated in this study. They were asked to perform<br />

low-intensity long-duration (>60 min) training in the form <strong>of</strong> walking exercise 3-4 times a week for 12 weeks. We prospectively<br />

collected data on aerobic fitness (VO2max), phase II VO2tau and variables related to glucose and lipid metabolism at pre-, mid- and<br />

post-training periods every six weeks from the beginning <strong>of</strong> the training. Anthropometric variables were also measured at the same<br />

interval periods.<br />
