2 design is consistent with the community plan. The
3 Montecito Association who wrote the community plan says
4 it's consistent with the community plan, and in December
5 the Montecito Board of Architecture Review said that the
6 proposed project is appropriate for the area. So
7 there's really no issue here.
8 The news press keeps talking about blight and
9 how these guys haven't cleaned up the rats and ruins
10 there. The field mice are having a field day. And you
11 know and I know that they can't do that because they
12 can't touch buildings until they have permits.
13 I suggest news press knows far less about
14 this project than the people like the
15 Montecito Association and the staff that's studied it
16 for five years.
17 So finally my advice to you is, when in
18 doubt, do what's right. Revive the Miramar. Create the
19 new jobs and tax revenues. Don't get marred down and
20 too picky with details about how many screens are on the
21 side of balconies. That's absolutely crazy in the scope
22 of this project and what it means to this community.
23 Stop the nonsense and approve the Miramar today as fast
24 as you possibly can.
