2 of which were included as part of the approved plan.
3 Finally, we have committed to provide
4 $1 1/2 million to fund lower cost visitor services
5 overnight accommodations in Santa Barbara County, which
6 can be used to create new cabin, tent, or bicycle
7 campsites throughout Santa Barbara County. And that is
8 a condition of approval of the project.
9 Again, our proposed plan we believe is a
10 dramatic step forward in providing better beach access
11 to the public, something that we've heard repeatedly as
12 a priority to the community.
13 There's one other issue I just wanted to
14 touch on as I conclude. There has been discussion in
15 the press and by some of our critics that this project
16 has -- somehow in its processing and consideration by
17 the County has received special treatment.
18 And we would just like to state that we think
19 that is absurd. We think that that is an insult to this
20 Commission; to the Historic Landmarks Advisory
21 Commission, which has had it on its agenda three
22 different times; to the staff who has held our feet
23 tremendously to the fire throughout this process as you
24 can see by the thousands of pages of analysis that we
25 have submitted with respect to this project.
