1 The general manager of the Montecito Water
2 District stood up here again today and said, "We have
3 the water to serve." I don't know what could have been
4 more clear especially with a "will serve" letter.
5 But I don't want to debate. Again, I would
6 just ask let me out, sort of let me go, and let somebody
7 else take this thing on. But staff has been
8 unbelievable, and I want to say publicly you have an
9 incredible smart hardworking staff.
10 And they have put their heart and sole into
11 this. And as Matt said, they kept our feet to the fire.
12 Many times I was very frustrated. Dianne will tell you.
13 I called, and I was upset.
14 But they are smart. They are very protective
15 of this community, very protective of you, very
16 respectful of the laws and the rules and regulations,
17 and they did an unbelievable job, and I am very grateful
18 to staff for this.
19 But again, I ask that you let us go on this,
20 and I never thought in my life I'd ask for denial of a
21 project, but that's where we're at. We need to have
22 that for our lenders and in order to put the property up
23 for sale, whatever else we need to do with the property.
24 MS. BURROWS: Could we please have advice on
25 staff of Mr. Caruso's request and our options.
