I was sitting at a coffee shop downtown 12 this week, and I overheard a lot of conversations going 13 on about this project, and I heard Mr. Caruso's people 14 trying to garner support by offering up special perks 15 when the hotel is built. 16 And it really upset me because his way of 17 doing business completely cheapens the political process 18 which these things have to go through in order to get 19 approved. I would urge you not to approve this project 20 right now as it stands because there's obviously 21 something obviously wrong under the surface that needs 22 investigation. 23 If this proposal was good or right and the 24 project was something that resonated with the community 25 and was environmentally sound, there would be no need 176
1 for a massive PR campaign and no need for cocktail 2 parties, club memberships, business deals, and 3 everything that is going on behind the scenes of this. 4 So that's what I have.
