3 chunk of road.
4 MR. BIERIG: And what's the county policy
5 related to abandonments of roads? Is there any
6 particular methodolgy used? In this case is there
7 anything different here than we would normally see? A
8 road that's no longer required -- is there any
9 particular circumstances that normally take place
10 related to the abandonment, or is it a fairly simple
11 process?
12 MR. HAVLIK: Two questions, Mr. Chair. Yes,
13 it is a standardized process, and yes, in this case we
14 will go through all the steps of a complete vacation as
15 compared to a summary vacation. The basic difference
16 there would be more public notification of the proposed
17 County action of vacating the easement.
18 The other difference between this event, this
19 road vacation, and many that I process, is that the road
20 today is in use. Normally we have what we term -- we
21 term -- excuse me -- a paper road where the right of way
22 and the pavement don't exist in the same location. So I
23 will have a right of way literally through somebody's
24 front yard. And the County would vacate only the
25 easement; the pavement would remain.
