Vegetation Layer
Abstract
Presented contribution evaluates selected wild plants phenological development in 5 Forest
Vegetation Layers (FVL). FVL I includes localities vertically below 350 m above sea level,
FVL II is between 350-400 m, III 400-550, IV 550-600, FVL V 600-700 m a.s.l. Norway
spruce (Picea excelsa), European beech (Fagus silvatica), Small-leafy linden (Tilia cordata),
Wild strawberry (Fragaria vesca) are selected as dominant plant representatives of Central
European forest. Entrance of phenological phases like bud break (BBCH07), begin of leafing
10% (BBCH11), begin of leafing 100% (BBCH15), inflorescence emergence (BBCH51),
flowering 10% (BBCH61), flowering 100% (BBCH65), end of flowering (BBCH69), in the
case of strawberry BBCH51, 61, 65 phases are studied, using the period 1991-2005 in South
Moravia region. Interphase periods between mentioned phenophases are studied resulted as
duration in days, entrance tendency during 1991-2005 and the need of degree-days total of
daily air temperature above 0 ºC. Selected phenophases entrance is generally started at first in
FLV I and it is observed later in higher FVL; but important exceptions are noted.
1 Introduction, methods
2 Results
2a Correlation coefficients
Correlation coefficients are given at first for individual forest plants inside first to fifth forest
vegetation layers and for time duration between specified phases and need of degree-days
total of daily air temperature above 0 ºC. Phenophases are used: BB =bud break, BL10 =begin
of leafing 10%, BL100 =begin of leafing 100%, IE =inflorescence emergence, BF10 =begin
of flowering 10%, BF100 =begin of flowering 100%, EF =end of flowering.
