original open coding categories that resulted from <strong>the</strong>se findings were collapsed into several subcategories
following <strong>the</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> open coding. Some categories were collapsed into similar
meanings; for example, <strong>the</strong> categories “Challenging” and “Difficult” were collapsed into a single
response category. Any category that remained with only one response following this collapse
process was discarded. This resulted in a number <strong>of</strong> keyword-categories that were prevalent in <strong>the</strong>
focus group and interview responses. The axial coding outcomes are attached in Appendix B (Axial
Coding Results and Categories).

5.3 Narrative coding
Following this axial coding process, <strong>the</strong> narrative coding process completed <strong>the</strong> qualitative portion <strong>of</strong>
<strong>the</strong> analysis. The narrative coding process focused on <strong>the</strong> areas identified in <strong>the</strong> axial coding process
above; creating questions that would bring to light more information regarding <strong>the</strong> identified areas <strong>of</strong>
concern or uncertainty by <strong>the</strong> respondents. These areas were as described above. The outcomes <strong>of</strong>
this coding process are concluded in a form <strong>of</strong> a model and it is described in <strong>the</strong> next section.
6. Proposed conceptual model
Based on <strong>the</strong> qualitative analysis conducted, a conceptual model depicting <strong>the</strong> factors influencing
technology transfer at organizational level is proposed in Figure 2
