teoria strun, teoria wszystkiego. Członkami chóru jest 50 artystów oraz 2 krytyków
sztuki z Białorusi. Cały projekt został oparty na paradoksalnie żartobliwych przejściach
konceptualnych: artyści, którzy śpiewają; artyści, którzy śpiewają w chórze; i dalej, artyści,
użyciu retoryki badania i eksperymentu w dyskursie sztuki współczesnej.
Podczas gdy sztuka współczesna nieustannie starała się pozbyć kategorii piękna i ładności
ze swoich praktyk i języka, współczesne nauki ścisłe zdają się je przejmować i posługiwać
nimi we własnej argumentacji. Właściwie nauki ścisłe stały się dzisiaj ostatnim miejscem
schronienia dla tych dobrych, starych pojęć i kategorii, które stworzyła i rozpowszechniała
estetyka klasyczna i romantyczna teoria sztuki. Projekt ten jest rodzajem subtelnego,
ironicznego komentarza odnoszącego się do naukowo-artystycznych trendów
w sztuce współczesnej i równocześnie momentem odrodzenia modernistycznej
autonomii w przybliżaniu się kwestii naukowych do praktyki artystycznej.
The initial core of the project is an art performance in form of a chorus concert,
in which a chorus with an accompaniment of a grand piano and a Theremin-vox performs
five specially written for this project Lyrical Songs about Physics, devoted to such essential
for contemporary physics and mathematics theories as Set Theory, Theory
of Supersymmetry, String Theory, Theory of Everything. The participants of this chorusperformance
are 50 artists and 2 art critics from Belarus. The whole project is based
on paradoxical tongue-in-cheek conceptual shits: artists, who sing; artists, who sing
in a chorus; and furthermore, artists, who sing lyrical songs about physics and in a chorus.
These shis symbolically represent an interpenetration and inter-substitution of notions
and categories from contemporary art on the one hand and contemporary science
on the other, which one can observe in an ever-growing importance of aesthetical criteria
in contemporary fundamental science, especially in theoretical physics and mathematics,
and, on the other side, in a massive exploitation of a conception and rhetoric of research
and experiment in a contemporary art discourse. While contemporary art was insistently
trying to expel categories of “beauty” and “beautiful” out of its practice and its language,
contemporary science seems to adopt and to preserve them in its vocabulary
and apparatus of argumentation. As a matter of fact, fundamental science has become
today the last resort for all these old good notions and categories, which were produced
and distributed by classical aesthetics and romantic theory of art. In a sense the project
is a kind of a subtle ironical commentary to a science-art trend in contemporary
art and at the same moment a revival of a modernist autonomous attitude
in approaching natural sciences issues in art practice.
