Urodzony w 1969 roku, Dubrownik, Chorwacja. Z wykształcenia ogrodnik
(uczęszczał do średniej szkoły o profilu rolniczym), jest przede wszystkim
jednak multimedialnym artystą-samoukiem, który współtworzy znane
niezależne centrum artystyczne w Dubrowniku – Art Workshop Lazareti.
Burdjelez tworzy głównie prace wideo oraz instalacje, bierze także
udział w performansach. Prace artysty wystawiane są od roku 1997,
wiele z nich brało udział w międzynarodowych festiwalach sztuki
mediów. W 2005 roku Burdjelez był jednym z reprezentantów
Chorwacji na 51. Biennale w Wenecji. Mieszka i pracuje w Dubrowniku.

Pasko Burdjelez was born in 1969 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. He attended secondary
agriculture school in Dubrovnik. He is by vocation gardener, but also self – taught
multimedia artist who developed within. The setting of the Art Workshop
Lazareti in Dubrovnik. He is engaged in video making and installations and
puts on performances. He has been showing his work since 1997. He has taken
parts in international new media festivals. In 2005 he was one of the Croatian
representatives at the 51 st Venice Biennale. He lives and works in Dubrovnik.
… w pragnieniu uczynienia sztuki jedynym możliwym środkiem wyrażania własnych
spraw i problemów Burdjelez odczuwa pewien niepokój, wynikający z jednoczesnego
pragnienia braku ekspresji, pozostaniu przy doświadczaniu samego życia.
Opierając się konwencjonalnej stylizacji artystycznej, jego prace tworzą nowy kontekst
społeczny i artystyczny. W obu domenach Burdjelez chce uniknąć nadmiaru wiążącego
się z instytucjonalizacją, pustego przedstawienia, bezwartościowej treści.
Artysta jest samotną postacią stojącą na granicy dwóch form bytu: fizycznej egzystencji
oraz twórczości. „Co prowadzi do topornych, dziwnych prac, które z trudnością dopasowują
się do znanych i sprawdzonych koncepcji artystycznych, lecz w istocie swej są częścią życia”,
jak zauważa sam artysta ….
…In his urge to resort to art as the only possible way of communicating his subjects
or his problems, Burdjelez feels unease because of simultaneous urge for non-expression,
for sticking at bare forked life. Resisting conventional artistic stylization, his works are
corrective of the social and the artistic context. In one domain and in the other Burdjelez
wants to avoid any surplus of institutionalization, of empty show, imperilled content.
His position is that of a lone figure on the border of two forms of being : that of existence,
and that of creation.”This results in clumsy, weird works that are hard to fit into tried
and tested artistic conceptions for on the whole they are still part of life,” said the author
