Image-shi / Bildwechsel (Niemcy/Germany)
Curated by
Matthias Reichelt
_
Studio Image-shi / Bildwechsel (Sandy Kaltenborn / Pierre Maite)
zostało założone w 1999 roku. Od tego czasu studio projektowokomunikacyjne
wkracza w swojej działalności w przestrzeń społeczną,
polityczną i kulturową.
Image-shi / Bildwechsel (Sandy Kaltenborn / Pierre Maite) was founded
in 1999. Ever since the design- and communication studio works in the fields
of social, political and cultural engagement. the studio practices can be described
as a mixture of classical client-related design work and authorship related artistic
interventions in public space. the studio is based in Berlin, Grmany and occasionally
moves around the globe. image-shi also works in client relations - clients
are artists, curators, museums, cultural- and educational institutions, social
- and political activist groups and in the first place they are their own clients.
Both members went to art school (Paris / East-Berlin) but believe that education
is not necessarily bound to such institutions.
Obrazy te pokazują kilka przykładów interwencji artystycznych
w kontekście walki społecznej i politycznej ostatnich lat.
Większość tych plakatów zostało stworzonych we współpracy
Przestrzeń publiczna miasta, kafejki, bary i kuchnie prywatne
są galeriami życia codziennego. Te miejsca (wraz ze strategiami
komunikacji wizualnej i obrazem polityki) to przestrzeń, gdzie
Image-shi chce zrelatywizować klasyczną relację nadawca
– odbiorca, autor – publiczność, aby dowartościować bardziej
demokratyczne dyskursy publiczne w społeczeństwie.
Dziękujemy za przeczytanie tego tekstu. Życzymy miłego dnia.
The images here show a few examples of visual interventions
in the contexts of social and political struggles in the last years.
Most of these posters were produced in collaboration with collective
groups such as antiracist, anti-capitalist groups. There is no original
artwork, as the distribution of these (in high amount / offset printed
posters), into public space is part of the creative and collaborative
work the image-shi does with others. Image-shi rejects
the figure of the single artist /author in order to achieve more focus
on the productive dependencies which lie in every field of cultural
productions.
The public city space, the café´s, the bars and the private kitchens
are the galleries of daily life. This (and with its visual communicative
strategies & image-politics) is where image-shi seeks to relativise
(lower) the classical sender-receiver / author-audience relationship
in profit of more democratic public discourses in society.
Thanx for reading. Have a good day.
