Ronald Dagonnier zdobywał doświadczenie, zajmując się fotografią, aby później skoncentrować się głównie na wideo – i jego właściwościach
– w instalacji. Wędruje przez świat, budując wizualną pamięć, zachowując obrazy, fragmenty swoich doświadczeń i spotkań.
Szczególną umiejętnością charakteryzującą twórczość Ronalda jest klarowność jego przekazu, przy jednoczesnym braku od niego wyzwolenia:
oferowanie skondensowanego obrazu świata, w którym przyglądamy się każdym istotnym obszarom bieżących wydarzeń, jak również nierozwiązywalnym
wadom ludzkości: polityce, wojnie, religii, głodowi...
Ten ciąg elementów to dla artysty znajomy teren, który pozwala mu wykreować niekiedy niezbyt chlubną i politycznie niepoprawną ikonografię,
w której śmiech to otwarte drzwi, możliwość refleksji.
Obsesją Ronalda, oprócz jego ulubionej tematyki, jest obraz, jego nieuchwytność i nieustanny przepływ. Próbuje, jak badacze w medycynie, znaleźć
odpowiedź, mimo że nie padło żadne pytanie. Eksperymentuje i niczym szalony naukowiec przeprowadza operacje na obrazach, maltretuje je, starając
się uchwycić ich istotę: to wyprawa po nieosiągalne i siła napędowa jego wyobraźni.
Ronald Dagonnier first gained his experience through photography only to focus later essentially on video – and its features – as installations.
He strides along the world and builds up a visual memory, by storing up images, fragments of his experiences and encounters.
The ability which stands out in Ronald’s work is the lucidity of a report with no possible salvation: to offer a condensed sight of the world, looking
over every sensitive area of current events as well as the insoluble faults of humanity: politics, war, religion, famishment...
This series of elements makes up the familiar ground of the artist, which allows him to elaborate a sometimes infamous and politically incorrect
inconography, in which laughter is an opening, a possibility of reflection.
Beyond his favourite themes, Ronald is obsessed with the image, its elusiveness and unceasing flow. He attemps, as medical examiners do, to find the answer
though no question has been asked. He experiments and, like a mad scientist, operates on the pictures, he mistreats them to capture their essence :
an impossible quest, the driving force of his imagination.
