Na pierwszy, szybki rzut oka słoneczna koncepcja świata Roberta F. Hammerstiela
ucieleśnia szczęście człowieka. W schludnych domkach raju lotto,
na ekonomicznych w utrzymaniu sztucznych przydomowych trawnikach
umilających atmosferę okolicy, upstrzonych tu i tam nadmuchiwanymi basenami,
w czarujących salonach i czarownych sypialniach, w sterylnych wzorcowych
kuchniach i czystych pokojach dziecinnych urządzonych we właściwej,
miniaturowej skali, panuje spokój i idylla, oparta w niemałym stopniu o ofertę
domów handlowych, katalogów wysyłkowych i centrów handlowych,
które gwarantują spełnienie marzeń, które można kupić.
Robert F. Hammerstiel pokazuje nam świat istniejący w cieniu nieuniknionych
produktów ubocznych machiny konsumpcji, której zadaniem jest tworzenie
potrzeb i ich zaspokajanie: anulowanie tęsknoty, wyparcie się niespełnialnego
pragnienia i kres pogoni za utopią.
At the first cursory glance at least, the happiness of the man is realised
in Robert F. Hammerstiel’s sunny scheme of the world. In the trim houses
of the lotto paradise, on the low-maintenance artificial lawns of neighbourhoodfriendly
front gardens with and without inflatable pools, in the charming livingrooms
and the dreamlike bedrooms, in the sterile model kitchens in front of them
and in the clean children’s rooms furnished on an appropriate miniature scale,
peace and idyll reign, not least underpinned by what is on offer at department
stores, in mail-order catalogues and shopping malls which ensure the fulfilment
of dreams that money can buy.
Robert F. Hammerstiel shows us a world, which is overshadowed by the inevitable
by-products of a consumer apparatus aimed at producing needs and satising
needs: the invalidation of longing, the denial of unfulfilled desire and the end
of the pursuit of utopia.
