Financial Implications
The preparation of a conservation plan for the place (should one be required) by a heritage
professional would be in the vicinity of $14,000. Specific funding has not been allocated
under the current budget, but there is no urgency at this point of the process.
Cultural heritage grants may be available to the City, for example Lotterywest Cultural
Heritage Grant for the commissioning of conservation plans, undertaking conservation or
interpretative works which ensure the heritage value and on-going use of the place.
As future works may have to match original materials, construction techniques and finishes
to reflect the heritage character of the site, additional costs may be incurred. These costs
could only be quantified once a conservation plan has been prepared.
Cost implications for the commissioning of an archaeological assessment that may be
required as part of any major proposed redevelopment of the reserve in the future has not
been investigated.
