Strategic Implications Goal 3: Objective 3.3: SI 1.2.5: To foster the ongoing economic development of the City, encouraging investment and employment in a sustainable manner. Create and foster an environment that encourages innovation and investment. Support small business development by ensuring advice, training and business incubation services are available. Sustainability Implications The following tables outline the applicable sustainability issues for this proposal:- Nil. Issue ENVIRONMENTAL Comment Amenity Issue SOCIAL Comment The proposal is not considered to have an undue detrimental impact on the amenity of the area. Issue Business innovation ECONOMIC Comment The proposed home business will provide a service in an alternative environment to commercial centres that may suit certain clientele and cater for certain elements of the community. Conclusion The objections received have been considered but cannot be substantiated on planning grounds. The application is considered to comply with the provisions of the City’s Home Office, Home Occupation and Home Business Policy and is not considered to have the potential to detract from the amenity of the locality. The proposal is also considered to be consistent with the objectives of the Residential zone. The application is therefore recommended for approval subject to conditions. 246
