• Listen.<br />

• Ask a question when you have one.<br />

• Feel free to share an illustration or<br />

example.<br />

• Request an example to clarify a point.<br />

• Search <strong>for</strong> ways in which you can<br />

apply a general principle or idea to<br />

your work.<br />

• Think of ways you can pass on ideas<br />

to your subordinates and co-workers.<br />

• Be skeptical–don't automatically<br />

accept everything you hear.<br />

• Participate in the discussion.<br />

• Respect the opinion of others.<br />

DON'T:<br />

• Try to develop an extreme problem<br />

just to prove the trainer doesn't have<br />

all the answers. (The trainer doesn't.)<br />

• Close your mind by saying, "This is all<br />

fine in theory, but..."<br />

participation.<br />
