• Delay pelvic and blood test, if the<br />

adolescent desires. A complete<br />

social-medical history should be<br />

taken and a pregnancy test<br />

administered. If the adolescent is not<br />

pregnant and does not report current<br />

physical symptoms of a STI, you may<br />

delay doing a pelvic or blood test <strong>for</strong><br />

up to 6 months. A pelvic exam should<br />

not be delayed <strong>for</strong> teens that are at<br />

risk of STI or pregnancy.<br />

person that the adolescent chooses<br />

stay with the client during the visit.<br />
