method at the time of intercourse.<br />

Other factors<br />

• Lack the skill and expertise to<br />

negotiate condom use.<br />

• Stopped using contraceptives<br />

because of the side effects.<br />

• Are impulsive and sexual activity is<br />

often unplanned. Even when sex is<br />

anticipated, often do not have<br />

protection available.<br />

• Believe that the suggestion of<br />

protection implies mistrust of one's<br />

partner and her/his faithfulness.<br />

• Adolescents desire conception. For a<br />

girl, it may be a way to keep a<br />
