Table 6.1 shows casualties on <strong>London</strong>’s roads for 2013 and 2014 compared aga<strong>in</strong>st<br />

the 2005-2009 basel<strong>in</strong>e. Changes <strong>in</strong> collisions and casualties dur<strong>in</strong>g 2014 should be<br />

considered <strong>in</strong> the context of long-term casualty trends <strong>in</strong> <strong>London</strong>, as year-on-year<br />

fluctuations are not always <strong>in</strong>dicative of long-term trends. It should also be noted<br />

that large percentage changes <strong>in</strong> small numbers might not be statistically significant.<br />

In 2014 aga<strong>in</strong>st the 2005-2009 basel<strong>in</strong>e:<br />

• Fatalities were 40 per cent below the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• All KSI casualties were 40 per cent below the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• Child KSIs were 50 per cent below the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• Slight casualties were 12 per cent above the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• Cyclist KSIs were three per cent above the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• Motorcyclist KSIs were 34 per cent below the 2005-2009 average.<br />

• Pedestrian KSIs were 36 per cent below the 2005-2009 average.<br />
