Figure 9.11 shows the average number of m<strong>in</strong>utes of active travel per day per adult<br />

<strong>London</strong>er from 2008/9 to 2014/15. The total number of m<strong>in</strong>utes has <strong>in</strong>creased on<br />

average by 2 m<strong>in</strong>utes over this period, from 19 m<strong>in</strong>utes to 21 m<strong>in</strong>utes. Figure 9.11<br />

also shows the relative contribution of walk<strong>in</strong>g and cycl<strong>in</strong>g to average m<strong>in</strong>utes spent<br />

travell<strong>in</strong>g actively, where the majority of active travel <strong>in</strong> <strong>London</strong> is walk<strong>in</strong>g. In<br />

2014/15, approximately 20 of the 21 m<strong>in</strong>utes travell<strong>in</strong>g actively were done on foot<br />

(93.3 per cent). In 2014/15, the proportion of active travel done by bicycle has<br />

<strong>in</strong>creased from 4.7 per cent <strong>in</strong> 2008/09 to 6.7 per cent <strong>in</strong> 2014/15.<br />
