Figure 8.7 shows these ‘crossover’ characteristics, where, for example, disabled<br />

people are more likely than average to also be people on low <strong>in</strong>comes, and the<br />

BAME group has a higher proportion of younger people than average for the whole<br />

population. The green circles <strong>in</strong> the figure <strong>in</strong>dicate where a group has a higher<br />

proportion of another characteristic than average for the whole population.<br />

Figure 8.8 illustrates these <strong>in</strong>terrelationships <strong>in</strong> terms of BAME <strong>London</strong>ers. In this case, the<br />

relatively younger age profile among these groups drives a number of specific barriers, for<br />

example the cost of tickets.<br />
