This collection contains, but is not limited <strong>to</strong>, the documents of the Joel Brand mission, in<br />

which the Germans offered the British and United States governments Jews in exchange<br />

<strong>for</strong> 10,000 trucks and other materials. Also included are notes by Anthony Eden, G.H.<br />

Hall, Wins<strong>to</strong>n Churchill, and others; the minutes of the War Cabinet‘s Refugee<br />

Committee meeting on May 4 and August 4, 1944; Raoul Wallenberg‘s report about the<br />

July 1944 coup attempt by László Baky; the June 26, 1944, cable from the World Jewish<br />

Congress <strong>to</strong> Pope Pius XII; and a letter that was exchanged between Vyacheslav Molo<strong>to</strong>v<br />

and Eden.<br />

Accession 1989.A.131 --- Henry Einstein Papers<br />

These papers include depositions, interrogations, and judgments of the U.S.-administered<br />

Nuremberg trials and various other war crimes trials. The documents relate <strong>to</strong> alleged war<br />

criminals; in<strong>for</strong>mation on atrocities and crimes; and the persecution of Poles, Jews, and<br />

<strong>for</strong>eign nationals by the Nazis.<br />

Provenance: World War II veteran Henry Einstein worked as a clerk, investiga<strong>to</strong>r, and<br />

interpreter at the war crimes trials in Nuremberg. Michael Klopfer, execu<strong>to</strong>r of the Henry<br />

Einstein estate, donated the papers <strong>to</strong> the Museum.<br />

RG-02.077 --- Hannah Metzger Speech Relating <strong>to</strong> <strong>Holocaust</strong> Survival<br />

This speech contains in<strong>for</strong>mation about Hannah Metzger‘s life while hiding in the home<br />

of a Dutch farmer. Also included are descriptions of her near capture by the Germans.<br />

Provenance: The donor delivered this speech at a reunion of the Jewish School of<br />

Fürth/Nuremberg. In August 1984, Hannah Metzger sent a pho<strong>to</strong>copy of the transcript <strong>to</strong><br />

Dr. Max Rothschild in preparation <strong>for</strong> the ―Faith in Humankind‖ conference, sponsored<br />

by USHMC in September 1984.
