This collection contains 15 case his<strong>to</strong>ries relating <strong>to</strong> Romanian orphan children. The<br />

his<strong>to</strong>ries were compiled by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee office in<br />

Bucharest, Romania. They containing in<strong>for</strong>mation on deportations <strong>to</strong> Transnistria, the<br />

treatment of Jewish children in ghet<strong>to</strong>s, and the care of orphans after the war. Included<br />

are pho<strong>to</strong>graphs of the children.<br />

This essay is composed of three parts. Included are the accounts of those who escaped<br />

from Europe, those who survived in Polish <strong>for</strong>ests, and one man who survived<br />

Auschwitz. The narratives include subjects such as emigrating <strong>to</strong> the United States,<br />

Kristallnacht, resistance movements and partisans, male rape, and the conditions inside<br />

concentration camps.<br />
