RG-02.170 ―The S<strong>to</strong>ry of the Jews of Vilkomir‖ by the Kronik Family, 1948<br />

This collection contains testimony by three Kronik family members <strong>for</strong> the ―Jewish<br />

Committee.‖ At the time, they were in a displaced persons camp in Kassel, Germany,<br />

awaiting emigration <strong>to</strong> Israel. The testimony describes the his<strong>to</strong>ry of the Kronik family;<br />

the Lithuanian Jewish communities of Musnik (a.k.a. Musninkai), Sirvintas (a.k.a.<br />

Sirvin<strong>to</strong>s, Sirvintai), and Vilkomir (a.k.a. Ukmerge, Wilkomir, Vilkomierz); the<br />

communities‘ responses <strong>to</strong> the Soviet and Nazi occupations; and the fate of the<br />

communities‘ members. Also included is a list of Lithuanian partisans and police who<br />

participated in the mass execution of Jews.<br />

Minsk Ghet<strong>to</strong>, 1994<br />

This memoir describes Albert Lapidus‘s childhood in Belarus, his family‘s experiences in<br />

the Minsk ghet<strong>to</strong>, and various ―Aktionen.‖ Also included is a list of individuals involved<br />

in resistance activities in Minsk.<br />

RG-02.175 ―I Remember: Odyssey of a Jewish Teenager in Eastern Europe, 1939–1946‖<br />

by Markus Lecker, N.d.<br />

In this memoir, Markus Lecker describes his childhood in Romania, the Soviet<br />

occupation of northern Bucovina, the German invasion and occupation of the Soviet<br />

Union, his attempt <strong>to</strong> escape and his capture, his survival of ―Aktionen‖ undertaken by<br />

Germans and their Ukrainian collabora<strong>to</strong>rs, his internment in the Borshchuv (a.k.a.<br />

Borshov, Borszow) ghet<strong>to</strong>, his escape from that ghet<strong>to</strong>‘s liquidation and survival by<br />

hiding in a <strong>for</strong>est, his bout with typhus, his liberation and reunion with his parents, and<br />

his experiences in the Soviet army. Included are pho<strong>to</strong>copies of pho<strong>to</strong>graphs of Lecker<br />

and his family.<br />
