This collection contains copies of pho<strong>to</strong>graphs from the war crimes case of the United<br />

States vs. Alfons Klein, et al. The ten copy prints depict scenes at the Hadamar<br />

sanitarium, cemeteries in the vicinity, and au<strong>to</strong>psies per<strong>for</strong>med at Hadamar by Dr.<br />

Hermann Bolker. Each pho<strong>to</strong>graph has a caption on the reverse side in <strong>English</strong>. Item #7<br />

(pho<strong>to</strong> of an au<strong>to</strong>psy) is missing from the file.<br />

This collection contains 189 case files of investigations in<strong>to</strong> alleged war crimes<br />

committed during World War II in various European countries. The files primarily relate<br />

<strong>to</strong> concentration camps, but also contain in<strong>for</strong>mation about prisoners of war and prisoner<br />

of war camps.<br />

Provenance: The records were created by elements of the U.S. Army in Europe including<br />

those of the Judge Advocate General‘s Corps and Counterintelligence Corps. Source of<br />

acquisition is the National Archives and Records Administration, RG 338 (Records of the<br />

7708 War Crimes Group).<br />
