Saved the Jewish Children and Adults in 1944,‖ 1994<br />

This manuscript contains in<strong>for</strong>mation about citizens of Prélenfrey-du-Gua, France, who<br />

hid Jews during World War II. Specifically mentioned are the actions of the Guidi family,<br />

proprie<strong>to</strong>rs of the Les Tilleuls preven<strong>to</strong>rium <strong>for</strong> tuberculosis patients. Also included are<br />

several articles relating <strong>to</strong> the Jews saved at Prélenfrey-du-Gua, and recent pho<strong>to</strong>graphs<br />

of the Les Tilleuls preven<strong>to</strong>rium. Serge Klarsfeld provided a preface <strong>to</strong> the manuscript.<br />

Provenance: In 1994 Editions C. Lacour published the original French manuscript by the<br />

donor, David Klugman, who also translated the work.<br />

This collection contains pho<strong>to</strong>copies of clippings and other documents relating <strong>to</strong> the<br />

actions of Mary Barys Szul (b. 1928), who was recognized as a Righteous Among the<br />

Nations by Yad Vashem in 1982 (Case Number 3233).<br />

Provenance: Source of acquisition is Mania Birnberg, a survivor of the Zborow ghet<strong>to</strong><br />

who escaped <strong>to</strong> a nearby village, where Mary Barys hid and protected her.<br />

RG-21 Joseph and Sheila Tenenbaum Collection, 1927–1986<br />

This record group contains various materials relating <strong>to</strong> the life and activities of Dr.<br />

Joseph Tenenbaum (1887–1961). Tenenbaum was active in the organization of the Anti-<br />

Nazi Joint Boycott Council of the American Jewish Congress and the Jewish Labor<br />

Committee in 1933, as well as several anti-Nazi and Jewish relief and rescue<br />

organizations. He also wrote books (e.g., Race and Reich), pamphlets (e.g., ―Can Hitler<br />

Be S<strong>to</strong>pped‖ [1938] and ―The Einsatzgruppen‖ [1955]), and magazine and newspaper<br />

articles. Subjects in the collection include American reaction <strong>to</strong> the persecution of the<br />

Jews in Europe be<strong>for</strong>e and during World War II; the activities of several Jewish<br />

organizations involved with relief and rescue (e.g., American Jewish Joint Distribution<br />

Committee, YIVO, American Jewish Committee, American Jewish Congress, American
