This collection contains minutes of meetings of the Germany Emergency Committee<br />

(later FCRA, Friends Committee <strong>for</strong> Refugees and Aliens). Other documents discuss the<br />

situation of the Jews in Germany, support <strong>for</strong> refugees, internment, political prisoners,<br />

and visits <strong>to</strong> concentration camps. The collection also includes the pamphlet ―An<br />

Account of the Work of the Friends Committee <strong>for</strong> Refugees and Aliens, first known as<br />

the Germany Emergency Committee of the Society of Friends 1933-1950,‖ by Lawrence<br />

Dal<strong>to</strong>n, issued in 1954, as well as various other pamphlets relating <strong>to</strong> the work of the<br />

Committee.<br />

In his memoir, Dolf Ringel describes his life in Amsterdam, his escape from a roundup,<br />

his escape <strong>to</strong> Spain through German-occupied Belgium and France, his arrest by Spanish<br />

police and internment in a Spanish prison, his transfer <strong>to</strong> a camp in Miranda de Ebro, his<br />

release and work in the Dutch embassy in Madrid, the deaths of family members, and his<br />

emigration <strong>to</strong> the United States.<br />

RG-32.016 --- An<strong>to</strong>n Wohlfahrt and Ernst Reiter Pho<strong>to</strong>graph<br />

This is a black-and-white copyprint of a pho<strong>to</strong>graph of An<strong>to</strong>n Wohlfahrt (d. 1974) and<br />

Ernst Reiter (b. 1915), both of whom are Jehovah‘s Witnesses. The pho<strong>to</strong>graph was taken<br />

in June 1945 shortly after their time in Flossenbürg concentration camp and their<br />

liberation from a death march by American troops. Ernst Reiter, on the right, wears his<br />

prisoner number badge (1935) on the pocket of his jacket.<br />
