This collection relates <strong>to</strong> the work of the American Field Service (C and D Pla<strong>to</strong>ons) at<br />

Bergen-Belsen concentration camp after liberation. It contains in<strong>for</strong>mation about the<br />

starvation of prisoners, sanitation and disease in the camp, <strong>for</strong>ms of execution used in the<br />

camp, mass burials of Bergen-Belsen victims, medical care <strong>for</strong> survivors, and the<br />

activities of specific AFS personnel during the post-liberation clean up of the camp.<br />

RG-04.043 Kay Foldvary Papers Relating <strong>to</strong> Post-Liberation Dachau, Ca. 1945<br />

This collection contains ―Recollections of Dachau, May 1945‖ and ―Memories of Life in<br />

U.S. Army, 1942 and 116th Evacuation Hosp. in Europe 1944–1945,‖ both written by<br />

Kay Foldvary. The dates of the memoirs are unknown. Both memoirs relate <strong>to</strong> Foldvary‘s<br />

experiences as a U.S. Army nurse at Dachau after the liberation. Also included are 52<br />

pho<strong>to</strong>graphs of original pho<strong>to</strong>graphs from a pho<strong>to</strong> album compiled by Foldvary. The<br />

pho<strong>to</strong>s depict images of post-liberation Dachau and are accompanied by handwritten<br />

captions by Foldvary.<br />
