RG-28.003 --- Records Relating <strong>to</strong> Restitution of Austrian Property Looted during World<br />

War II.<br />

This collection contains pho<strong>to</strong>copies of documents from the National Archives and<br />

Records Administration relating <strong>to</strong> the restitution of looted property, gold, and <strong>for</strong>eign<br />

currencies in Austria from 1945 <strong>to</strong> 1950. Also included are files on the so-called<br />

Hungarian gold train (a.k.a. the Werfen train).<br />

Provenance: In the early 1980s a researcher made copies of the documents in the records<br />

of the National Archives and Records Administration in Washing<strong>to</strong>n and donated them <strong>to</strong><br />

the United States <strong>Holocaust</strong> Memorial Council. Researchers should keep in mind that<br />

these records are fragments and, are no longer in their original archival context.<br />

This collection contains a copy of Buchenwald, Near Weimar, a music score by Patricia<br />

King, with words by Joseph Langland. The song text contains Joseph Langland‘s<br />

reflections on his participation in the liberation of Buchenwald. The cassette recording<br />

features the piece per<strong>for</strong>med by John Lemly, bass, and Sheila Jillson, soprano,<br />

accompanied by Joseph Rogers on cello and Patricia King on piano.<br />

This collection contains research materials, articles and newspaper clippings, and trial<br />

transcripts collected by Tom Teicholz while doing research <strong>for</strong> his book, The Trial of<br />

Ivan the Terrible: State of Israel vs. John Demjanjuk. Also included are drafts <strong>for</strong> several<br />

chapters of Teicholz‘s book.<br />

NOTE: The Demjanjuk trial transcripts, February 16, 1987, through April 25, 1988, are<br />

incomplete. Researchers should consult the finding aid <strong>for</strong> details on dates and page<br />

numbers of the transcripts.
