This collection contains claims <strong>for</strong>ms filed by the government of the Netherlands on<br />

behalf of Dutch citizens whose property was seized by the Germans from 1940 <strong>to</strong> 1942.<br />

RG-28.007 Manfred Lovin Case File from the United Restitution Organization, 1958–<br />

1972<br />

These documents relate <strong>to</strong> the restitution ef<strong>for</strong>ts of Manfred Lovin (Loewin), who served<br />

in the German cavalry during World War I and later became a successful manufacturer of<br />

radio components. In 1938 he was arrested and sent <strong>to</strong> the Sachsenhausen concentration<br />

camp, from which he escaped and fled <strong>to</strong> the United States. Included are decisions in the<br />

case, which he filed on behalf of his family members, as well as statements <strong>for</strong> monetary<br />

awards and documents relating <strong>to</strong> the transfer of funds.<br />

Provenance: The case file became the property of the donor, Rabbi Eugene Lipman, and<br />

his wife, Esther, as personal representatives of Lovin‘s estate.<br />
