Republics, 1945–1984<br />

This collection contains copies of the proceedings of a 1984 lawsuit filed by Guy von<br />

Dardel and Sven Hagstromer against the Soviet Union <strong>for</strong> the unlawful seizure and<br />

imprisonment of Raoul Wallenberg.<br />

Provenance: Source of acquisition is Agnes Adachi via Linda Kuzmack. Adachi assisted<br />

Wallenberg at the Swedish Embassy in 1943 by distributing passports, and is responsible<br />

<strong>for</strong> saving several Jews from death during an escape ef<strong>for</strong>t on the Danube River.<br />

This collection contains an original document that served as identification <strong>for</strong> Ella<br />

Barrey, an employee of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Budapest,<br />

Hungary. Also included is a letter from the donor, George Lorinczi, providing<br />

biographical in<strong>for</strong>mation on Ella Barrey and her heroic ef<strong>for</strong>ts <strong>to</strong> save Hungarian Jews<br />

and prisoners of war.<br />
