RG-04.019 --- Das Krema<strong>to</strong>rium in Dachau, 1945<br />

―Das Krema<strong>to</strong>rium in Dachau‖ is an eyewitness report given by Willy Furlan-Horst, a<br />

film direc<strong>to</strong>r from Vienna and a ―protected prisoner‖ at Dachau, shortly after the<br />

liberation of Dachau. The report describes the interior of the crema<strong>to</strong>ria, the gas<br />

chambers, the procedures <strong>for</strong> <strong>to</strong>rture and execution of prisoners, the duties of the<br />

crema<strong>to</strong>ria Kommandos, and the facilities <strong>for</strong> housing the SS attack dogs. Also included<br />

are copies of four pho<strong>to</strong>graphs of death scenes in Dachau after liberation, and an <strong>English</strong><br />

translation prepared by the USHMM Archives.<br />
