RG–19.047 Samuel B. Zisman Papers, 1944–1996 (bulk 1946–1947)<br />

This collection contains reports relating <strong>to</strong> Samuel B. Zisman‘s service as direc<strong>to</strong>r of<br />

displaced persons camps and centers. Included are correspondence, maps, organizational<br />

flow charts, pho<strong>to</strong>graphs, architectural drawings, car<strong>to</strong>ons, newspaper clippings, and<br />

various other documents related <strong>to</strong> the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation<br />

Administration‘s (UNRRA) District 5 in Bavaria. The papers date from 1944 <strong>to</strong> 1950 and<br />

chiefly concern the work of various UNRRA teams and the operation of various<br />

displaced persons camps and centers from 1945 <strong>to</strong> 1947.<br />

Provenance: A statement of provenance and a biography of Zisman written by the donor,<br />

Paul D. Spreiregen, in 1996 are included in the collection.<br />

This collection contains one song booklet and eight postage stamps given <strong>to</strong> students in<br />

the Kassel displaced persons camp; 66 black-and-white pho<strong>to</strong>graphs of the Goldfarb<br />

family in the Kassel and Ziegenhain displaced persons camps; and 22 documents<br />

pertaining <strong>to</strong> the experiences of Roza, Elimelech, and William Goldfarb in those camps.<br />

Provenance: Source of acquisition is William Goldfarb.<br />

RG–19.056 The Morris Kopels Papers, 1945–1946<br />

This collection contains two copies of a songbook from the Bergen-Belsen displaced<br />

persons camp. The songbooks were part of the publication Zamlung fun katset un ge<strong>to</strong><br />

lider, which was issued in 1946 by the Central Jewish Committee in Bergen-Belsen. The<br />

same collection also appeared as an edition of the displaced persons periodical Undzer<br />

Sztyme. There is also a pho<strong>to</strong>copy of a note <strong>to</strong> Morris Kopels‘ aunt, Sonya Kusevitsky.<br />

Provenance: Source of acquisition is Morris Kopels.<br />
