then hands you her miter-headed wand. Picking up the wand between the pillars,
you take on the office of Hegemon that the goddess has bestowed upon you, and
turn to face the altar. Say:
I am theHegemon of the temple. My station is between thetwo Pillars of
Hermes andSolomon andmyface is towards theCubical AltaroftheUniverse.
My duty is towatch over thegateway oftheHidden Knowledge, for

air before you the figure of a triangle. He then hands you his sword. Picking up
the sword and the banner of the West, you take on the office of Hiereus that the
god Horus has bestowed upon you and turn to face the altar. Say:
I am the Hiereus of the temple. My station is on the throne of the West
andisa symbol ofincrease ofDarkness anddecrease ofLight, andI amthe
